Our commitment to safety
Stublet is committed to a safe community for every user. The service is for people 18 and over only (subletting requires legal capacity). We have zero tolerance for abusive content, harassment, fraud, and risky behavior.
Every user gets a built-in safety toolkit:
- Report a listing, profile, or message — one tap
- Block an abusive user — bidirectional; both sides disappear from each other
- Per-listing privacy control — who can see it (public / followers / friends-of-friends / three degrees)
- In-app chat — a reported message is reviewable by our safety team
Zero tolerance for CSAE
Stublet absolutely prohibits any content or conduct related to CSAE — Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation.
Strictly forbidden:
- Posting, uploading, sending, or requesting CSAE in any form — images, video, text, links
- Sexual communication with a minor or grooming behavior
- Depicting minors in a sexual, abusive, or exploitative context
- Using the service to facilitate human trafficking
Suspected violation? Report immediately:
- In the app — the "Report" button on any listing, profile, or message, choosing the "Harm to a minor" reason. Such a report goes to the top of the review queue
- By email — [email protected] with subject "CSAE Report" — response within 24 hours. This is also the right route if the "Harm to a minor" reason is not yet available in your app version
How a report is handled:
- The report jumps to the top of the moderation queue immediately, ahead of every other report
- Review of the content and the activity, and removal of the reported content
- Referral to Israeli law enforcement and to international bodies (NCMEC) where required by law
- Account deletion for any user who violated the policy; retention of relevant data for enforcement purposes
Safety tools in the app
What you can do:
- Report content: a "Report" button is on every listing, profile, and message. Pick a reason (harm to a minor, fraud, harassment, inappropriate content, fake listing or profile, spam, other) and add a short description if helpful
- Block: blocking a user removes them from your feed, removes their profile from your suggestions, and prevents them from following you, messaging you, or finding you in search
- Privacy control: for every listing, choose who can see it (public, followers only, friends of friends, or three degrees of separation)
- Verification: phone verification is recommended and required to publish a listing — it cuts down on fraud
What we do:
- Review every report as soon as possible
- CSAE reports get immediate priority
- Actions calibrated to severity: warning, content removal, temporary suspension, account deletion, referral to authorities
- Cooperate with law enforcement on lawful requests
Money, payments, and fraud
Stublet does not move money and does not hold a deposit. Rent and deposit pass directly between host and subtenant, off-platform, and Stublet does not insure the transaction: there is no insurance, no guarantee, and no compensation fund. That makes the rules below worth following closely. They reduce the risk; they do not make a deal safe, and the judgement stays yours.
Before you send money:
- Never send money before you have seen the property with your own eyes and met the other party
- Ask for proof of the host's connection to the property - a land-registry extract (נסח טאבו) if the host owns it, or the lease plus the landlord's permission if the host is a tenant. Note that a land-registry extract is a public document and does not prove the person in front of you is the rights holder
- Put everything in writing, ideally a signed sublet agreement covering the period, price, deposit, and the terms for returning it
- Keep the conversation in Stublet's chat - it is your record, and it is what lets us review a report
Warning signs (a partial list):
- Pressure to pay fast, "someone else wants the place", or a deposit demanded before you may view it
- A host who refuses to meet, to speak by phone, or to show the property
- A price far below the going rate for the area
- A push to move to an outside channel before anything is agreed - there is no reporting, blocking, or record there
- A request for a photo of your ID or for credit-card details
- A request that you pass someone the verification code you received by SMS. That code is typed only into Stublet's own sign-in screen - never read out on a call, in a message, or in chat, and no legitimate host needs it
Ran into an attempted fraud?
- Report it with the "Report" button on the listing, profile, or message, choosing the "Fraud or scam" reason
- If money already changed hands, file a complaint with the Israel Police. Reporting to us does not replace that, but it lets us act against the account and reduce the risk to other users
The 18+ requirement
Stublet is a subletting platform that requires legal capacity to enter contracts. Use is for people 18 and over only.
- At sign-up you confirm that you are 18 or older
- If we identify a user who is a minor, we delete the account immediately
- Parents who realize their child created an account by mistake — contact us right away: [email protected] with subject "Minor account deletion". We treat these with high priority
- We do not ask for date of birth and do not record ages under 18
See also: the "Account & Data Deletion" page for the deletion process in such a case.
